Activity Overview

From 2022, LHRA expanded its core programming in Nakivale, including food and hygiene support, livelihoods, leadership, human rights, HIV/STI outreach, and advocacy. In 2023, the Anti-Homosexuality Act significantly increased violence against LGBTQ+ refugees, deeply affecting LHRA members and staff. In 2024, LHRA strengthened its institutional support through partnerships with HRAPF, UHAI-EASHRI, and the Trans International Fund, expanding emergency protection, mental health, livelihoods, legal rights, and advocacy programs. Between October 2024 and November 2025, LHRA documented 297 human rights violations against trans refugees in Nakivale, alongside continued legal and psychosocial support.
